Program Overview

The Digital Multimedia Program at Harold Washington College is a hands-on program requiring extensive use of the computer as an artistic and creative tool. Beyond learning technical skills, students are immersed in the tools and processes of the industry, developing and producing a variety of projects.

Digital Multimedia is a general term meaning an application that has been authored using any combination of animation, graphics, sound, video, and text. Output can be in the form of web site design and development, videos, and DVD's, interactive desktop applications, three-dimensional modeling and animation, and motion graphics

The Digital Multimedia Design degree has been updated. What does that mean for you?

Course objectives and materials are updated to better prepare you for the workplace. We are offering a new course DMD 130 as a prerequisite for DMD 131.

If you declared DMD as your major prior to 2013 then you are elgible to use the previous degree requirements to complete the degree. If you are just starting in the program or have not declared DMD as your major, you will need to follow the guidlines and prerequisites of the new program. YOU MUST BE A CURRENTLY ENROLLED DMD STUDENT TO USE THIS LAB. NO VISITORS ALLOWED. *In order to better serve you, we are tracking when students come to Open Lab and hours are not available. Please sign the form outside of Room 816 if this occurs.

Currently the Digital Multimedia Program at Harold Washington College has two main labs, room 811 and room 812. These labs are used for both classes and open lab time. The program also has a small sound booth, used for audio and sound recording.

Both labs are equipped with Apple Intel Imac computers. Scanners and large format 13 x19 printers are available in both 811 and 812.

The following equipment is available for student and or DMD faculty use:
Canon XL1 video cameras, Panasonic video cameras, Small digital video cameras, Lighting equipment for video, Microphones, Headphones, Wacom tablets, Three 13 x 19 Epson Printers.
